Apprentice Application 2010

             Minimum Qualifications

 

Age:                Must be at least 18 years of age.

           

Education:     High School graduate or GED.

 

Aptitude:        Possess the basic attitude essential for acquiring the skills and proficiency of the trade.

 

Physical:        Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade.  May be subject to pre-employment    physical and/or drug screening.

 

Residence:        Must be available to attend the classroom instruction.

Each applicant will be given the opportunity to read the Apprentice Standards before filing an application.

No applicant will be given an interview without a complete application.

 

 

We need the following information turned in prior to interview dates in order to be granted an interview.

 

    1.  Application filled out

    2.  Copy of your driver's license and social security card (preferably a color copy)

    3.  Copy of high school diploma or GED

    4.  Copy of high school transcripts (even if you have a GED)

    5.  Copy of GED scores if you have a GED

    6. Three work related reference letters (from anyone who isn't a family member)

    7.  Compass test results.....See study guide for scoring information.

 

Ø      All applicants must complete an Assessment test (COMPASS TEST) at Metropolitan Community College and bring the results back to the Training Center to complete your application.  In order to interview you must score 8 out of 17 possible points on the Compass Test.  For practice examples of the compass test, please go to www.act.org/compass/tests/index.html  We will be looking at your scores in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (pre-algebra).

 

Ø     All applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be given a preliminary interview.  The interview will consider the following:

            a) Educational background

            b) Previous work experience

            c) Interest & attitude

            d) Personal traits
